HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Provide overall supply chain planning, purchasing operations and business leadership as part of the European Supply Chain Team within the Research and Safety Market Division (RSD). This position works closely with Snr Director, European Supply Chain and his peers and other functions, along with the Global Supply Chain planning leadership, to develop and execute strategies to drive a World Class Customer Experience while optimizing inventory investment. The position responsibilities include: leading the supply chain and purchasing operations functions, analytics and supplier development to design and implement strategic, tactical and operational plans, internal business reviews, supplier reviews, and reporting results and risk mitigation plans.
The position is responsible for leading a pan European supply chain planning and purchasing operations organization, including analytics and supplier development to make sound business decisions including demand planning, fulfillment streams, stocking strategy, inventory classification, services levels, leadtime management, safety stock decisions, supplier management, new product introductions and new customer implementations. The position is responsible for leading process improvements and productivity projects including system implementation, as required.
This position is also accountable for planning and execution within a supply chain that is made of 1800+ suppliers, 1,6M finished goods products, ~8 distribution centers, ~60M inventory, ~40 employees through 3-4 direct reports.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
The key responsibilities and tasks of the Supply Chain Planning Director are: Advancing analytical analysis, modeling and data mining competencies through the use of data warehouses, SQL, Big Data and Decision Support Solutions, forecasting applications Responsible for forecasting & inventory planning with oversight of planning parameters that support the business growth in each respective markets Drive strategic direction for Decision Support Systems in support of supply chain business needs. Oversee on-going support of existing inventory management programs and processes. Provide management tools, services and general IT guidance to Purchasing Operations Team. Identify and drive implementation of system enhancements and on-going upgrades. Motivate and inspire the planning organization to provide continuous improvements and optimization of inventory investment while delivering customer fulfillment levels that meet or exceed established targets. Analyzes forecasting, inventory planning and purchasing processes, recommends and implements changes in procedures to optimize productivity, customer response, working capital and liabilities (D&E). Drive corrective actions as required Define decision-support / action based tools to proactively identify and act upon supply chain issues such as poor service levels, shipments from secondary DC's and stock-outs. Responsible for selecting and implementing “best practice” state-of-the-art technology platforms. Manage relationship with sales force and provide processes for affecting the inventory plan based upon changes in the marketplace and well as contractual commitments to customers Direct the development and implementation of Supply Chain Management tools for measuring, monitoring and proactively addressing planning / procurement and supplier performance issues. Work closely with Portfolio Management team to advance Supplier Management via the framework of the Fisher Scientific Supplier Guide & Supplier Tiering Program as well as to rollout Supply Chain requirements in our Supplier Contracts Accountable for supporting the advancement of elements that provide an accurate and predictable B2C, self-service experience to our customers. Drive or end to end digitalization of our Supply Chain – with transparent flow through information from Supplier to end customer – and virtual warehouse to determine primary or secondary shipping points to maximize customer experience Owner of the Customer Allegiance Net Promoter Score (CAS) for Order Fulfillment and all elements of end to end continuous improvement relative to order fullfilment Drive all key performance metrics including End-user Service, Supplier On-Time Shipment, Performance to Original, PO Past Due, Sales Backorders, etc. Performs other duties as assigned.
HOW YOU WILL GET THERE A Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain / Logistics, Business Management or a related field is required; MBA or Master's Degree in Supply Chain Management or related field is strongly preferred. (*) 12 years of finished goods planning experience involving a broad supply base with a large product offering. Experience in a highly complex distribution or retail model strongly preferred. (*) Proven expertise in at least 3 of the Purchasing, Inventory Planning, Demand Planning/Forecasting and Supplier Management (*) Hands on experience in a purchasing and/or materials management software desired Must have previous strong exposure to inventory control/management/reduction in a high SKU environment (*) Superior analytical and computer skills with experience utilizing analytical tools (MS Access and SQL Server preferred) and databases along with an understanding of manufacturing (MPS/MRP…). A dynamic, high energy leader with a track record as an effective communicator and uses a collaborative approach to problem solving. Ability to influence and collaborate with various organizations and management levels (*) Results oriented, metrics driven leader with a root cause, permanent fix approach, continuous improvement approach with high sense of urgency and self-motivation (*) Must have organizational skills to effectively plan, organize, and set priorities for the operation and teams (*) Must have experience and be comfortable in a highly structured/procedural environment and in an international matrix organization (*) Effective written and oral communication skills in English.
